Green Ixworth is open to anyone who shares our aims and objectives so please get in touch if you like to join us.

Chair: Roger Spiller

I moved to Ixworth in January 2019 having lived in Suffolk since 1971 apart from 15 years retirement in SW France where I failed to persuade French hunters to conserve and protect wildlife, on our land where we encouraged wilding and wild life. Involved in restoration projects since the late 50’s. Regional Secretary for the union MSF in East Anglia, responsible for our opposition to Sizewell B, and a decarbonising program with members in offending industries. In Siberia saw the damage that oil spills and the drive for more hydrocarbons do to the environment. Have worked in NGOs at European, national and local level and with the UN at international level. When running the union health and safety unit promoted natural environments as a way to reduce workplace stress along with reducing working time. For 5 decades have promoted and grown native species and a keen forager. Member of the SWT

Treasurer: Vic Roden

I moved to Ixworth in December 2019, knowing “this was the place” after a single visit to the village. I’ve enjoyed exploring the local area over the past year but felt sometimes that there may be more being done for wildlife in the middle of cities than in the industrial-agriculture led landscape surrounding the village. I’ve long been interested in “green” issues and would like to be part of making a difference here with Green Ixworth. As to my suitability to hold the post of Treasurer: in my professional life I’ve worked in finance for over 15 years in the public sector, and am a qualified accountant (CIPFA) . I also did book-keeping for a volunteer-run cooperative vegan restaurant for a few years in London, so I have some prior experience in finance arrangements for small not-for-profit organisations.
